Trevor Zegras blockbuster trade leaked by NHL insider

At this years 2024 NHL Entry Draft, it was just revealed by an NHL Insider that the Montreal Canadiens and the Anaheim Ducks had a deal in place that would send Trevor Zegras to MTL.
There has been a lot of rumors surrounding what teams are interested and linked to try and land the young superstar, but it seems with this recent report that the Montreal Canadiens were the front runners, and they still might be.
Canadiens and Ducks had agreed on a trade that would have sent Zegras and a second-round pick to Montreal. In return, Anaheim would have received defenseman Logan Mailloux and a first-round pick.
Unfortunately for the Canadiens, the deal fell through.
"According to Marco Normandin, the Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks had a trade lined up that would have sent Zegras and a 2nd round draft pick to Montreal for a package including the 1st round pick they eventually used to select Michael Hage. Apparently, the trade was denied in the final moments leading to the pick, as it's fair to assume Montreal was counting on Hage being available, which may have been the deciding factor in the deal." Keiran Bray of Hockey Talk Daily said.
Due to some significant injuries, Zegras was only able to appear in 31 games last season. He scored 6 goals and 9 assists for 15 points and had a +/- rating of -1.
It will be interesting to see how the offseason progresses and see if Montreal takes another stab at Landing the 23-year-old.
