Even with the passage of years, occasional unique occurrences unfold in an NHL match that surprises fans. Tonight marked one of those instances. In a matchup involving the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers, an unexpected and controversial moment unfolded.

During a shootout attempt by Evan Rodrigues, it seemed like he outmaneuvered Joseph Woll, potentially securing the win for his team. As soon as the goal was scored, the Panthers swiftly headed towards the locker room amidst a brief celebration. However, while the Panthers were engaged in their celebrations, the referees initiated a review of the play.

Upon review, it was evident that Rodrigues made a clear double touch of the puck to maneuver it past Woll.

Noah Gregor later scored a goal, securing the eventual win for the Leafs, which did not sit well with the Panthers.
