The Boston Bruins have been making notable changes behind the scenes, as they revealed a promotion for Assistant GM Evan Gold.
Major Aspirations for the Black and "Gold"?
Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff reported the update:
''#NHLBruins� announce a promotion for assistant GM Evan Gold, who now officially holds the title of GM of the AHL's Providence Bruins.''
Gold, aged 43, is in his eighth season with the Bruins, having been appointed Assistant GM in 2019 after working as the Director of Legal Affairs since 2015.
According to Bruins Network on Twitter, it appears that Gold was essentially overseeing operations in Providence already, with Don Sweeney acting as the "de facto" GM.
The real question is whether this move by Boston is a way of preparing him to eventually succeed Sweeney as the general manager.
