Alex Galchenyuk, 29, was placed on unconditional waivers by the Arizona Coyotes as they decided to terminate his contract just four days after his arrest and subsequent charges by the Scottsdale Police Department.
Galchenyuk had recently signed a one-year contract for the league minimum of $775,000 on July 1st, but his involvement in an incident on July 9th led to him facing multiple charges, including private property hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, and threatening or intimidating.
Galchenyuk, drafted third overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2012, has struggled to secure a stable position in the NHL, being traded multiple times and signing several contracts as a free agent.
