Galchenyuk had recently signed a one-year contract for the league minimum of $775,000 on July 1st, but his involvement in an incident on July 9th led to him facing multiple charges, including private property hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, and threatening or intimidating.
The Coyotes were previously unaware of an off-ice situation involving Galchenyuk, and the police confirmed that the hit-and-run incident resulted in property damage only.
Galchenyuk, drafted third overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2012, has struggled to secure a stable position in the NHL, being traded multiple times and signing several contracts as a free agent.
