At 53 years old, Gruden brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as an assistant coach for both the Bruins and the New York Islanders.
His coaching journey includes notable achievements such as leading the Hamilton Bulldogs to the 2018 OHL Championship and serving as head coach for the Flint Firebirds during the 2015-16 OHL season.
The decision to appoint Gruden as the head coach of the Toronto Marlies was met with approval from Ryan Hardy, Maple Leafs Assistant General Manager, Minor League Operations, who highlighted Gruden's track record of developing players and achieving team success at every level.
