The NHL and NHLPA are actively working to bring NHL players back to the Winter Olympics in 2026.

Marty Walsh, NHLPA Executive Director, is determined to make it happen and is negotiating with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and the International Ice Hockey Federation.

The last time NHL players participated in the Winter Olympics was in 2014, where Canada secured gold in Sochi.

In 2018, they did not participate due to agreement changes with the International Olympic Committee. However, the ratified collective bargaining agreement extension in 2020 included Olympic participation in 2022 and 2026.

COVID-19 concerns resulted in NHL players not participating in 2022, but hopes are high for their return in Milan 2026.

The NHL and NHLPA are also preparing for the World Cup of Hockey, with scheduling delayed due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Fans eagerly anticipate the return of NHL players to the international stage and the excitement and competition it will bring.
