Following Patrice Bergeron's retirement this summer, the Boston Bruins have chosen a new captain for their 100th NHL season: Brad Marchand.

The 35-year-old, who spent his entire 14-year career with the Bruins and played a crucial role in their 2011 Stanley Cup win, becomes the 27th player to wear the 'C'. With 862 points in 947 games (372 goals, 490 assists), Marchand's leadership is highly anticipated.

Bruins fans can witness his captaincy debut against the New York Rangers this Sunday, with the true test coming on October 11th as they kick off their Centennial season against the Chicago Blackhawks.
