Boston Bruins Issue A Statement After Unexpected Roster Change
Winger Fabian Lysell finds himself missing the Boston Bruins' opening night roster for the third consecutive year. The official decision came last Tuesday as the Bruins assigned the 20-year-old winger and defenseman Mike Callahan to the Providence Bruins training camp. Forward Anthony Richard and defensemen Alec Regula, Dan Renouf, Reilly Walsh, and Parker Wotherspoon were also placed on waivers for reassignment.
This move follows Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery's frank assessment of Lysell's performance during training camp and the preseason. Montgomery emphasized the need for production from Lysell, who had moments of promise but struggled to meet expectations. Despite a respectable season with the Providence Bruins last year, Lysell faces a challenging path to his NHL debut this season.
"I think Lysell's had moments where he's been good. He's had moments where he's struggled, just as far as he's drafted to be a skilled offensive player, and in order to be a skilled offensive player, you've got to produce, and we haven't seen the production yet."
