The Boston Bruins have made a crucial decision regarding their talented defensive prospect, Frederic Brunet, for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The 19-year-old blueliner, drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, is set to lace up for the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins.

Dominic Tiano, a reliable source and close associate, shared the news via Twitter, confirming that Brunet, an impressive 6'2" defenseman weighing 185 pounds, will embark on a developmental journey with the Providence Bruins.

Last season, Brunet showcased his prowess on the ice while splitting time between the Rimouski Oceanic and the Victoriaville Tigres in the QMJHL. He put up impressive numbers with 38 points in 36 games and 38 points in 28 games, respectively.

Although Brunet remains unsigned by the Boston Bruins organization at the moment, his placement in Providence strongly hints at the possibility of an enticing three-year, entry-level contract offer in the near future.

During the Boston Bruins' development camp, held at the Warrior Ice Arena in Massachusetts last July, speculation arose about Brunet's next career move. The options were either to return to the QMJHL for further skill refinement or take the leap to the AHL, challenging himself in the professional ranks.

Notably, Brunet already made a brief appearance with the AHL Providence Bruins last season, leaving a mark with two assists in a single game. Now, his arrival for the full season will undoubtedly bolster the defensive core of the Providence Bruins, alongside other promising prospects like Alec Regula, Dan Renouf, Ethan Ritchie, Reilly Walsh, and Parker Wortherspoon.

The Providence Bruins' blueline is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with, and there may even be more depth added after the NHL Bruins' training camp this fall, depending on player performances.
