The Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens have a rivalry that dates back to the early days of hockey, with both teams being part of the Original Six hockey Teams. Jim Montgomery may have added a little more fuel to that rivalry with his recent comments on the Montreal GM.

Jim Montgomery and Montreal GM Kent Hughes were teammates back in 1980s Cegep de Saint-Laurent Patriotes. Both players would go on to have solid careers and move into management of teams later in their careers.

In a recent interview, the Boston head Coach took a small jab at his former teammate, now rival.

"Oh even Kent would say it was me," - Jim Montgomery

Both Players have now moved onto successful careers, with Hughes being the GM off one of the Best Hockey franchises in the league, and Montgomery leading a successful Bruins team year after year. Adding some fuel to the fire of a rivalry is always a fun way to ensure it stays alive.
