The 20-year-old winger, standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 179 pounds, had an eventful inaugural season with the Providence Bruins. Throughout 54 regular season games, he impressively recorded 37 points (14 goals and 23 assists) and represented Team Sweden in the 2023 World Junior Championship.
Unfortunately, Lysell and his team, the Providence Bruins, faced a setback in the postseason, losing in the first round to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Lysell's own postseason performance was hindered by an injury. Despite this, Boston Bruins assistant general manager Jamie Langenbrunner expressed confidence in Lysell's progression, acknowledging the setback but commending his dedication to recovery and returning to the ice.
Although still affected by the injury, Lysell participated in the Bruins Development Camp this offseason. Initially, he wore a non-contact jersey but transitioned to a regular practice jersey and fully engaged in a scrimmage by the end of the week.
Having completed a year of professional hockey, Lysell feels self-assured in his abilities and current state.
Regarding his health, Lysell admitted to not feeling entirely comfortable with the puck but expressed satisfaction with his conditioning, emphasizing efficient recovery after each shift.
He views his experience as a positive stepping stone to build upon as he prepares for the upcoming months before entering camp, having consulted with various coaches to develop a comprehensive plan.
