The Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres haven't usually been considered intense opponents, but last night's game changed that perception, at least temporarily, due to a brief altercation involving Kristopher Letang and young forward Peyton Krebs.

Letang Engages in Altercation with Krebs On Ice

Tensions escalated during the Penguins-Sabres game as a standard net-front scuffle unexpectedly transformed into a more serious incident. The situation led Penguins defenseman Kris Letang to throw an additional gloved punch at Sabres forward Peyton Krebs while he was already down on the ice. Generally, actions like this are heavily criticized and considered cowardly within the hockey community.

Krebs reacted strongly following Letang's unsportsmanlike punch, resulting in both players being separated as they headed to the penalty box.
