Could the Boston Bruins consider the possibility of adding Pat Maroon, a winger from the Minnesota Wild, to their roster? During their recent decline of three consecutive games, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery highlighted the necessity for more aggression and a sturdier team attitude.

Following a humiliating 5-2 defeat against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Montgomery conveyed his exasperation by saying:

«A lot of it gets back to checking. I think we've just been an easy team to play against. Not just the last three games, but probably the last six, seven»

Seeking the desired toughness, defenseman Derek Forbort and winger Trent Frederic demonstrated it by retaliating against a hit on Bruins captain Brad Marchand.

Since the arrest of winger Milan Lucic, some fans and media suggest the Bruins lack his intimidating presence. Although not confirmed, there's speculation that Bruins GM Don Sweeney might target a player like Pat Maroon, a rugged winger and three-time Stanley Cup champion.

An NHL executive source mentioned:

«I'm starting to hear his name out there. He doesn't fit in with [John] Hynes' up-tempo style and hasn't brought everything they wanted when they traded for him.»

As per the aforementioned source, it's indicated that Pat Maroon, currently in the last year of a two-season, $2 million contract, would probably require no more than what the Wild paid, a 2024 seventh-round pick, to acquire.
