The Bruins have been a powerhouse in the NHL this year. Even with how good they have been, they still are in a three-way battle with the New York Rangers and the red hot Winnipeg Jets. All three teams sporting a .711-win percentage on the year. The Bruins may find themselves in a spot where landing a big target may be what they need to continue to compete with these teams.
Don Sweeney has never been scared of making big moves at the deadline. The past few years has proved that with the list of players he has acquired: Rick Nash (2018), Coyle, Marcus Johansson (2019), and Ondrej Kase (2020), not to mention the additions of Dmitry Orlov, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Garnet Hathaway in 2023.
Who will Sweeney go after this year, some of the stars available are becoming clearer with each game played. Elias Lindholm has been at the forefront, but recently it looks as Patrick Kane, may be available as the Red Wings continue to fall down the standings. Tyler Johnson continues to be connected to the Bruins as a possibility at the deadline as well.
The Bruins are in prime contention and look primed for a deep run, adding some help may be essential, with their competitors looking to do the same. Luckily for the Bruins they have a GM that is never afraid to pull the trigger.
