The University of Vermont's Men's Hockey team has made a significant coaching change, parting ways with head coach Todd Woodcroft.

Following an investigation by UVM's Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity, Woodcroft's dismissal was attributed to inappropriate text messages with a UVM student, breaching professional boundaries.

The university did not disclose the message contents or the student's affiliation with the hockey program.

Woodcroft's extensive NHL background includes roles with teams like the Minnesota Wild, Washington Capitals, and Winnipeg Jets, as well as international coaching experience.

Assistant Coach Steve Wiedler has assumed the head coaching position. Moving forward, the University of Vermont faces the challenge of maintaining a strong program amidst this coaching change.
