In his debut move as the Pittsburgh Penguins' newly appointed general manager, Kyle Dubas secured the services of Reilly Smith, an original misfit, Stanley Cup champion, and former Bruins forward.
Having enjoyed a 12-year career, Smith clinched his first Stanley Cup victory with the Vegas Golden Knights. He was bestowed the honor of being the second player to raise the prestigious trophy after captain Mark Stone. Throughout the team's inaugural season, Smith served as the alternate captain, playing a pivotal role in propelling the franchise to new heights.
During his tenure with the Bruins, the 32-year-old right wing amassed an impressive tally of 91 points, comprising 33 goals and 58 assists, across 163 games.
However, he was eventually traded to the Florida Panthers, along with Marc Savard's contract, in exchange for Jimmy Hayes.
