Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand are not only best buddies on the ice, but also off it. They nearly became next-door neighbors, but one of their spouses had other plans.
Too Close for Comfort?
In a recent chat with Amalie Benjamin from NHL.com, Marchand unveiled a hilarious anecdote about his desire to live right across from the Bergeron family.
According to Benjamin's article:
When the house across the street from Patrice Bergeron came up for sale, Brad Marchand's eyes lit up. He was all in, prepared to move out of his place in the North End and take up more suburban living. Marchand's wife, Katrina, wasn't exactly on the same page.
Retelling the tale from Benjamin's detailed report, Bergeron and Marchand recounted the amusing exchange:
Marchand: ''The house across the street from him, I wanted to buy. I swear to God.''
Bergeron: �'I was trying to get him to buy it.''
Marchand: �'It literally looked at his front door.''

Seemingly, Marchand's wife preferred staying in Boston, but the Bruins duo joked there might be another reason as well.
Marchand: ''She was like, you'll leave me. He's got a pool we can use!''
Bergeron: �'Maybe that's why.''
Marchand: ''Can I just move into your basement? I'll be your full-time babysitter.''

Joking aside, the seasoned pair have been integral to Boston's top line for more than ten years.
