The Boston Bruins are preparing for a clash against the New Jersey Devils tonight at the Prudential Center, but they'll be encountering the challenge without a few crucial players on the roster.

Charlie McAvoy and Pavel Zacha won't be participating; McAvoy departed during Thursday's defeat to Buffalo due to an upper body injury, while Zacha has been absent since the first period of Saturday's match versus Arizona, managing his own upper body injury.

To compensate for these absences, Jesper Boqvist has been summoned from the Providence Bruins, the team's American Hockey League affiliate, where he has amassed five goals and nine assists across 24 games since joining.

Coach Jim Montgomery addressed the alterations in the lineup, highlighting that substituting a key center and defenseman isn't a task for just one person. He emphasized the necessity for a collective effort from the entire team to handle the increased playing time and duties.

When asked about Boqvist's recall, Montgomery pointed out the forward's impressive performance in Providence and the extra motivation of facing his former team in New Jersey.

The expected lineup for tonight's Bruins game is as follows:

Jake DeBrusk - Morgan Geekie - David Pastrnak

Brad Marchand - Charlie Coyle - Trent Frederic

James van Riemsdyk - Matt Poitras - Danton Heinen

Jakub Lauko - John Beecher - Oskar Steen

Hampus Lindholm - Ian Mitchell

Matt Grzelcyk - Brandon Carlo

Mason Lohrei - Kevin Shattenkirk

In goal:

Jeremy Swayman

Linus Ullmark
