Grzelcyk was noticeably missing during Thursday's practice as the team geared up to travel to Winnipeg for a Friday evening game against the Jets. Following that, the Bruins are scheduled to journey to Minnesota for a Saturday night rematch with the Wild, who clinched a 4-3 overtime win over the Bruins at TD Garden on Tuesday.
Coach Jim Montgomery, addressing the media post-practice, labeled Grzelcyk's status as day-to-day and refrained from confirming whether he would participate in the consecutive games over the weekend.
Montgomery said,
In the game against the Wild on Tuesday night, Grzelcyk absorbed a forceful hit in the corner early in the first period. Despite briefly leaving the game, he demonstrated resilience by returning during the second period, playing through what appeared to be an upper-body injury.
This setback compounds Grzelcyk's challenges this season, having previously missed ten games due to an upper-body injury sustained in late October during the Bruins' 3-2 overtime victory against the Florida Panthers. The 29-year-old defenseman made his comeback on November 25 in the Bruins' 7-4 loss to the New York Rangers. Since rejoining the lineup, he has played eleven games without recording a point, with his last point being a goal scored on October 26 in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks. Grzelcyk is currently experiencing a 14-game scoreless streak.
