Entering Tuesday night's game against the Capitals with a 16-game goalless streak that began on March 9th, Marchand broke his dry spell by scoring 8:32 into the second period:
Despite experiencing the second longest drought of his career (20 games in 2009-10), the Bruins' winger demonstrated his NHL expertise by chuckling about it after the game.
Marchand's goal also occurred during a power play, which has been another area of difficulty for him, as he hadn't scored with the man advantage since January 18th (35 games).
Following double-hip surgery in the off-season, struggles like these were anticipated, and Marchand's recent breakthrough couldn't have been better timed for him and his team.
As the playoffs approach, the seasoned NHL player is clearly conscious of the significance of timing. Hopefully, this paves the way for a strong postseason for Marchand and the Boston Bruins.
