In his remarks after the game, Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery was forthright in criticizing the referees after their match against the Senators.

Displaying annoyance at what he viewed as partiality, Montgomery pointed out the uneven distribution of penalties, noting that the Senators had six power plays while the Bruins had only one.

Rejecting the idea of narrowly escaping, Montgomery stated frankly:

"I don't think we dodged a bullet. I think we took about eight bullets."
