David Pagnotta, a host and analyst on SiriusXMNHL, NHLNetwork, and ThePHWA, recently had a conversation with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman regarding the future plans of the National Hockey League and other league-related matters.

During their discussion, Bettman mentioned his intention to meet with the NHL Players' Association (NHLPA) to discuss the upcoming World Cup of Hockey. Additionally, he expressed the league's desire to have players participate in the 2026 Winter Olympics, pending further details from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

However, the NHLPA has stated that they consider it unfeasible, although they remain hopeful for a return in 2025.

Unfortunately, the news hasn't generated much excitement among fans, as this isn't the first time Bettman has made such statements. The World Cup of Hockey was initially intended to be a recurring event, yet it hasn't been hosted since 2016, leading to some disappointment among supporters.
