Zdeno Chara, a hockey legend, sadly retired last year after a remarkable career. As the former captain of the Boston Bruins, he holds the record for most games played by a defenseman in NHL history and achieved 680 points in 1,680 games.

Chara's leadership skills extended beyond the ice, making him a revered figure in the community and a remarkable ambassador for both the Bruins and Boston.

Recently, he participated in the renowned Boston Marathon, marking his first-ever marathon and supporting two charities with strong ties to the city: the Thomas E. Smith Foundation, which aids individuals affected by paralysis, and The Hoyt Foundation, named after Dick Hoyt, who inspired Chara and many others by pushing his son with cerebral palsy in the marathon.

Chara acknowledged the profound impact of the Hoyts and their motivation during the Bruins' Stanley Cup Championship in 2011.
