"With heavy hearts, we share that Brad Maxwell is currently facing an aggressive form of lung cancer that has metastasized," a GoFundMe post conveyed. "As a former player for the Minnesota North Stars and the current President of the MN NHL Alumni, he brought exhilaration and happiness to fans through his presence on the ice.
