Gagner spoke to Edmonton Oilers reporter Jim Matheson yesterday and revealed he has received PTO (professional tryout) offers from several NHL teams and is weighing the options for the best fit.
Sam Gagner started the season last year with Oilers AHL affiliate the Bakersfield Condors. He scored 3 goals and 6 assists in 15 games before getting called up to the big club. He was in and out of the lineup as a healthy scratch with Edmonton and appeared in 28 games. He accumulated 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points, but unfortunately, his performance was not goof enough to earn him another contract this season.
If this is it for his career, he can look back and be proud of an amazing career. Over 17 years season, he played for 6 different teams and surpassed the 1000 game marker in 2022-2023. Gagenr scored 197 goals and 332 assists for a total of 529 points.
If the Bruins could get him on a PTO and sign him for league minimum, he can be a massive asset in a bottom 6 role.
