Boston Bruins make big announcement regarding top prospect Fabian Lysell

This is why Fabian Lysell will have a big season for the Boston Bruins if he makes the team out of camp.

At only 21-years-old, Lysell has not seen any NHL action after playing the last 2 seasons with the Providence Bruins of the AHL. Every year of pro hockey under his belt, he is improving, and after a great year in 2023-2024, he could easily make the Bruins out of camp.

He scored 50 points in Providence scoring 15 goals and 35 assists with a +/- rating of +6. But with a top 6 forward vacancy after Jake DeBrusk left for the Vancouver Canucks, he could step up and jump at the opportunity to showcase he belongs at the NHL level.

According to Boston bruins executives, they are giving him every opportunity to take that spot in the lineup.

«Just pin your ears back, train your ass off this summer, and come with the intent that there'll be an opportunity here,» Don Sweeney said of Boston's next crop of young skaters like Lysell and Georgii Merkulov. «If you're the best player, then we'll find a way to get you in the lineup. You have to sustain it as you're going along. Those guys should have clear intentions to come and find an opportunity to beat somebody out because it'll be there.»

Of course, cracking Boston's lineup over the last few years is easier said than done.

«We were really excited about where he was tracking and had he continued along that path and stayed healthy, he would have gotten an opportunity up top like a lot of other guys did,» Sweeney said of Lysell. «Because he had played that well.

«So now he's got to hit the reset button and have a really good offseason and come back with the intention that he knows how well he can play, he knows how we were proud of the steps he had taken.»- Don Sweeney

He is still very young and If he keeps progressing like he has been the last 2 seasons, he will be up with the team in no time.
