During this stalemate, you would think that the at a certain point one side would give in to the other, but really, it is up to Swayman to take that initiative. With him asking for a contract around $10 Million AAV, and the Bruins only have $8.6 million in cap space, they have no realistic options other than to trade away players to give him what he wants, which seems like a stretch.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman spoke on the '32 thoughts' podcast after he has been asked repeatedly if he thinks the Bruins will move on from Sway.
The fact that the B's had to trade away Ullmark in order to sign Swayman and a deal has not been finalized leaves the team in a very disastrous place. They have no options in terms of stardom between the pipes. There is a good chance Swayman is still a little salty on what occurred in arbitration last summer when he was awarded a 1-year deal, but if it is really spilling over to these negotiations, then who knows how long this standoff could last.
