The Boston Bruins top unrestricted free agent Kailer Yamamoto has signed with the Utah Hockey Club on a PTO.

All offseason, Yamamto was reported to be linked the with the Bruins as he was on the top of their list to be singed on a PTO, but with the contract struggles of Swayman, Utah was able to come in and swoop him up.

Yamamoto has had an up and down NHL career so far as he began it with the Edmonton Oilers. He showed serious flashes of top talent and ability while playing along side Connor McDavid and Leon Draisatil, but has never been able to fully develop into the top player he was touted to be.

His best season came back in the 2021-2022 season with the Oilers where he scored 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points in 82 games. Since then, he has struggled to find his game again and was ultimately traded to the Seattle Kraken.

In 59 games with the Seattle Kraken last season, Yamamoto had a down year scoring only 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 points with a +/- rating of -9. This may be his last chance to really prove himself in the show as a PTO does not guarantee him a spot on the roster. He will have to really impress the Utah organization for him to see NHL action this season.
