Both the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman have decided not to file for arbitration this year, but what does that mean for contract negotiations?
The #NHLBruins have elected not to file for arbitration with Jeremy Swayman. Team and Swayman will be able to negotiate a new deal with no deadline. Deal still promises to get done eventually #GetBent
Well officially, other teams are not allowed to send qualifying offers by offer sheet and the Bruins will have the first opportunity to match it, if they don't, then they will lose Jeremy Swayman.
It could be cause for worry but the only teams who can give him an average annual value north of $9 million are the Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, Seattle Kraken and Nashville Predators, according to Ty Anderson of 98.5 The Sports Hub.
Bruins fans will just have to wait in anticipation to see if a team offers him a big deal before Don Sweeney and the Bruins wrap things up.
