After Lemelin lost his starting job to Mike Vernon, he signed with the Bruins for the 1987-1988 season where he was a major piece in the B's beating the Montreal Canadians for the first time since 1943 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Lemelin went 4-0, with a .952 save percentage, stopping 99 of 104 shots. Lemelin went on to play another 5 season for the Bruins where he was no longer able to repeat the kind of caliber and performance he achieved in the '87 season.
After his career was all said and done, he appeared in 506 NHL games, racking up 12 shutouts, a 3.47 Goals against average and 0.884 save %.
