After showing GM Don Sweeney that he deserves to be the number one goalie, Jeremy Swayman and the Bruins are closing in on a monster contract extension.

Swayman was instrumental in defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs in round one of the playoffs as he was the star of the series. Even though the Bruins lost to the Panthers in round 2, head coach Jim Montgomery continued to lean on Swayman to guide the Bruins.

This would be a significant pay raise for 25-year-old netminder as he is completing his one year deal with the Bruins which was 3.45 million AAV. This kind of commitment and the raise of future Bruins goalie Brandon Bussi would mean that Linus Ullmark would be dealt during the offseason as he holds another season at $5 million.

Trading Ullmark would help the Bruins recoup some asests and help the team reallocate money where the team needs it the most which is down the middle.

Bruins fans will need to wait a little longer as July 1st is still a little away down the road, But it's expected that Don Sweeney will have a busy summer.
