We have already seen the Washington Capitals sign Jakub Vrana and the Tampa Bay Lighting sign Logan Brown to professional tryout's last week, meaning there are other teams soon to follow.
The Boston Bruins still have a hole to fill in their top 6 ever since they lost Jake DeBrusk to free agency. Although they have some young prospects in the pipeline to compete for a a job, the team could be considering adding James Van Riemsdyk to that group.
A PTO is a no-risk high reward move that could be extremely beneficial, and considering Van Riemsdyk's track record, there is no downside to give him a try out. In 71 games for the Bruins in 2023-2024, the New Jersey native scored 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points, and a +/- rating of +7. If the team could sign him for cheap after a successful camp, he can be slotted in the top 6 or bottom 6, where ever there is a need.
