Completed Trade: On this day in 2008, The Bruins acquired fan favorite, Mark Recchi from the Tampa Bay Lighting.
On this day in 2008, Mark Recchi signed a one-year deal with the Lightning. He would score 45 points with Tampa before getting traded to Boston at the trade deadline #Hockey365 #GoBolts
Mark Recchi singed a 1-year, $1.25 Million contract with the lighting, he was having a amazing season scoring 45 points in 64 games but then ultimately was traded to the Bruins at the deadline.
"To get picked up by a first-place team is really nice and comforting. It's a team that thinks I can help, and I'm going to do everything I can to," Recchi said in a conference call. "Boston's been pretty successful the last few years with other sports. I think it's Bruins time."
He would finish off the 2008-2009 season appearing in 18 games with Boston. In that time he managed to score 16 points with 10 G and 6 A.
He went on to play two full seasons with the Bruins and was able to lift the Stanley Cup before retiring in 2011.
