On this day in 1957, the Detroit Red Wings Traded future legend and 50 Goal Scorer, Johnny Bucyk to the Boston Bruins for another future legend, Terry Sawchuk.

#OTD in 1957, the @NHLBruins and @DetroitRedWings changed the course of @NHL history and swapped future legends.


It wasn't yet known how good Johnny Bucyk would be for the Bruins, as he had only played 1 full season for the Detroit Red Wings, but he would go on to play 20 more season for the B's and become one of the organizations best goal scorers.

In 1540 games, Bucyk scored 556 Goals and 813 assists for 1369 points total.

Terry Sawchuk on the other hand, was a much more established NHLer when he was traded to the Red Wings. He would go on to become of the best goalies to ever strap on a pair of goalie pads.
