The Toronto Maple Leafs ignited discussions last summer by transitioning from General Manager Kyle Dubas to Brad Treliving, previously associated with the Calgary Flames.
Treliving quickly made an impact by adding fresh talent, such as the tough forward Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi, who is the son of Leafs icon Tie Domi. They both secured one-year contracts in the hopes of securing extended terms in the future. Yet, news about their continued association with the team has been limited. NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has disclosed that negotiations regarding their comeback appear to have stalled.
"Before we turn the page on the Leafs... I looked into it, and it doesn't sound like those [contract talks] are active right now. Domi and Bertuzzi are probably bigger deals, so those other ones are easy to do right now, and it's great for both [Bobby McMann and Simon Benoit].
I don't think there's anything close on Domi or Bertuzzi."
Given their remarkable performances, the Leafs are confronted with challenging choices in the future.
