Right off the jump the it was clear that not a single player was holding back, as they were flying up and down the ice throwing massive hits and getting into big scrums. The Bruins ultimately lost to the Ranger 3-2 , but there are many positives and takeaways that fans should be excited about.
The 2 Bruins who managed to score were Cole Koepke and Trevor Kuntar, while head coach Jim Montgomery elected to use both of his young goalies in Brandon Bussi and Michael DiPietro as they each played half the game.
One thing was evident is that the goals themselves were not the prettiest, but the score sheet does not care. The goals came from hard work and physical hockey that management is looking for. Koepke's first goal of the pre-season came just 1:34 into the game and was the result of a major rebound.
The second goal scored by Kuntar was a weakish backhand shot that was able to find itself through traffic.
The Bruins had a solid showing with lots of big takeaways that they can build off going into game 2 of the pre-season.
