Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are in contract talks, however, the goalie decided that he will not participate in arbitration as it was a disaster for him last time around.

Having said that, this opens the door for a team to come through with an offer sheet. According to TVA Sports, the Montreal Canadiens are a team that could very well do that. They currently have some cap space to move around, and Swayman could very well solve their goaltending dilemma.

"Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins can now receive a hostile offer from other National Hockey League teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, NESN reported Saturday after the 5 p.m. deadline to request the involvement of an arbitrator in contract negotiations passed."

At this time, Habs GM Kent Hughes has not indicated an interest in Swayman. However, you never know what can happen. The Habs have had a history of hostile offer sheets under former GM Marc Bergevin. If Swayman were to get offer-sheeted, it's likely the contract would have to be upwards of $9 million per year. Whether or not the Bruins would be willing to match that, remains to be seen.

Let us know what you think about all of this, in the poll below. Will Swayman actually get hit with an offer sheet from the Canadiens? Additionally, stay tuned to Bruins Latest for all of the latest news from around the NHL.
