It is a sad day for the hockey world as legendary University of Minnesota-Duluth's hockey coach, Mike Sertich, has unfortunately passed away today at the age of 77.

He was the head coach of UMD from 1982 to 2000 where he and the team won 3 WCHA Championships (1983, 1984, 1985). In his long tenured career, he achieved a winning record of 350-328-44 and won the Penrose Award in 1984 which is awarded to the Coach of The Year.

After UMD, Sertich coached for Michigan Tech from 2000 to 2003.

Sertich leaves behind his sole daughter Lori, and his 2 sons John and Scott.

Everyone here and Bruins Latest was to send or deepest condolences to the Sertich family in this difficult time.
