The snag in this plan is that Wennberg has a 10 team no trade list, and also Seattle is not completely out of the playoff race, currently 6 points back of a wild card position. However, David Pagnotta of the 4th Period has reported that if Seattle were to make Wennberg available in a trade, the Bruins would be the most likely suitors for his services.
The 29-ytear-old Wennberg is currently in his prime, and is a pending unrestricted free agent, so Boston will be looking for his interest to sign long term before giving up too many assets to get him. However, if the Bruins were to give up let's say Jake DeBrusk and possibly dangle their 2025 draft picks in front of Seattle that may get the job done, with Seattle keeping a chunk of Wennbergs's 4.5 million salary for this season.
Wennberg currently has eight goals and 13 assists on the year. He is on pace to break his career high for goals and could be the huge secondary middle six forward that the Bruins are looking for.
The Trade deadline is March 8th, and anything could happen between now and then!
