The Boston Bruins faced a tough loss against the Florida Panthers, losing 3-2 in Game 4 and now trail 3-1 in the series. Their path to the Eastern Conference Final is not looking good, since they are required three consecutive wins against one of the best opponents, with two of those games on the road.
A significant turning point in the game came was a controversial goal scored following Sam Bennett cross-checking on Charlie Coyle, which led to Jeremy Swayman being unable to defend the net, raised eyebrows. Despite the Bruins challenge for goaltender interference, the goal stood good, sparking debate across the hockey community since last night.
When questioned about the goal after the game, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice stayed unfazed. He expressed his opinion that the contact between the players wasn't severe and didn't significantly impact the play. According to Maurice, the goal was good and the interference wasn't shocking enough to overturn the goal.
"I will have an opinion, and it would be no. In that, it will have no impact on the play in the game. And then, the connection between the two, the contact between the two (players) is not egregious at all. And the play just gets finished more than anything else.»
Maurice then responded to the media:
"The only way that I was particularly concerned is like some of your foreheads right now. ... I think there's been lots of energy with lots of coverage, and I think you've gone lost your minds on it, which is fine. Which is fine. You've got that right. I don't mean to offend you anytime, but we don't always share the same opinion about what happens on the ice. I am absolutely partisan, like 100 percent. Sometimes, I feel like you are, too."
