Tyler Bertuzzi was acquired by the Boston Bruins two years ago at the trade deadline and quickly became a fan favorite because of his grit. He then decided to leave the Bruins in the off-season to sign a one-year $5.5 million deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs, a move that was not totally well received by Pastrnak and the Bruins fanbase.
During the podcast, Paul Bissonnette asked Pastrnak about potential players he might try to recruit to play with the Bruins. When Bissonnette mentioned the idea of Bertuzzi returning to Boston, Pastrnak immediately dismissed the probability of this happening. His answer indicated a strong disapproval about Bertuzzi decision to leave last year. Especially since Bertuzzi said that he tought the Maple Leafs had a better chance of winning than the Bruins :
This tension was high while the Bruins victory over the Maple Leafs in a seven-game playoff series happened. This win seemed to show that the Bruins were strong even after losing key players the previous year. Pastrnak critic showed the competitive nature of NHL rivalries and the personal feelings that can emerge when players switch teams, particularly to go with a rival.
