Penguins announce shocking update regarding Matt Grzelcyk

Former Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk entered free agency this summer after a rough ending to his time in Boston.

Grzelcyk ended signing a 1 year deal with the Penguins worth $2.75 million.

The Penguins announced today that Grzelcyk will be wearing number 24 for the Penguins after spending his entire career in a number 48 jersey with the Bruins.

The last player to wear #24 for the Penguins was Ty Smith during the 2023-24 season. Grzelcyk will have to standout big time this season if he plans on landing another NHL contract after how his past two seasons went in Boston.
