The Bruins are amidst one of their worst stretches of the season. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games and the schedule is not getting easier. They have a President's Day Matinee against the Central Division Dallas Stars followed by one of the hottest teams in the NHL, the Edmonton Oilers, as they start a West Coast Road Trip.

They are looking high and low for upgrades to their team, and a surprising partner has come to light in the upstart Philadelphia Flyers. Then Flyers, one of the biggest surprises of the season are hard to figure out going into the deadline. They have been long pinned as sellers at the deadline, but they refuse to lose, and they have been in the top three in the Metro standings for more than two months now. GM Danny Briere has insisted the Flyers are still in rebuilding mode, but they will not make trades just for the sake of making trades.

One player that has consistently come up in trade talks with the Flyers, whether sellers or not, is Scott Laughton. Laughton would bring skill and defensive ability down the middle of the ice for the Bruins. They need center help, and Laughton fits that bill, he plays on the penalty kill and has essential grit that the Bruins are sorely lacking. He can play anywhere you slot him in the lineup and bring leadership qualities. He is currently the alternate Captain on the Flyers.

The former first round pick's stats don't jump off the page at you, 7 goals, 18 assists for 25 points on the year. It's everything Laughton brings outside of the scoreboard that has attracted so many teams to him. He would be an incredible addition for the Bruins, it will come down to the Flyers' asking price. It is almost guaranteed Laughton is traded at the deadline and the Bruins will have to compete with numerous other teams for the best offer.
