This was the Bruins' initial practice session after their 3-0 defeat to the Washington Capitals on Saturday, marking their first shutout of the season. This setback arrived merely four days following a lackluster 4-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. In between these losses, the Bruins secured a commanding 4-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, who lead the Western Conference, highlighting the need to regain their former consistency.
Facing an upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, the Bruins introduced revised lineups during Monday's practice.
Besides the promotion of recent call-up Anthony Richard to the third line, the most notable adjustment is the formation of the second line, consisting of Trent Frederic, Pavel Zacha, and Jake DeBrusk. While each of these players has shared the ice as part of a line with at least one of the others during the past 18 months, this is the first time this specific trio will be playing together.
This new arrangement will debut in tomorrow's game. Regardless of its duration, Bruins coach Jim Montgomery is optimistic about the strategic advantage of matching this trio against Tampa Bay's leading forwards.
