The Bruins' captain makes a strong declaration
With the playoffs approaching, the Bruins forward and captain Brad Marchand had some encouraging words for his team. Marchand's message for his team was as follows: "We know what we have ... We've known that from day one, and regardless of how analytics look at our group, we believe in what we have."
Bruins' captain Brad Marchand sent a clear message Saturday, regarding teammates both old and new.
This is encouraging as there may be some doubts, at least from the outside as the Bruins may have had one of the biggest upsets in NHL history last postseason. Not only did the Bruins have the best record in the NHL last year and were playing the team with the least amount of points to qualify for the for the 2023 playoffs in the Florida Panthers, the Bruins set records last year for most wins (65) and points (135) in a season. Everyone may have their own reasons on why the Bruins lost in the 1st round of the playoffs last year, however, no matter what, there will be added pressure when you set records in a season for both points and wins by a team. This year, it's a little different, they're not on pace to set records and are currently fighting to win their division against the same Florida Panthers. Even if the Bruins do not win their division, they are still not only a top team in the Eastern Conference, but also in the entire NHL. These comments from the Bruins' captain, should encourage all fans that the Bruins have the confidence to win in the playoffs and they are not letting last year's meltdown affect their mindset. None of us should be surprised if the Bruins are raising the Stanley Cup at the end of June for the first time in more than 10 years.
