The Bruins have officially clinched a playoff spot
The Bruins had the chance to clinch a playoff spot for the eighth straight season with a win over the Lightning last night but ended up losing 3-1.
However, they were still able to clinch if the Flyers or Red Wings lost in regulation which both teams ended up doing, Flyers 4-1 to the Canadiens and Red Wings 4-0 to the Hurricanes.
Thanks to those defeats, Bruins fans will be able to cheer on their team in the playoffs once again.
The Bruins might be in the playoffs but their matchup in the first round can drastically change depending on how they finish the season. Boston has 8 games left, all against teams that currently sit in the playoff picture which means they will not be easy games to win.
Fans will have to wait and see how the Bruins finish out the season to have an idea who they will be facing in Game 1. One thing is for certain, they will need to finish out strong if they want the best chances at no repeating last year's first round exit.
