With the trade deadline approaching and this year being a major sellers market, teams are starting to name their asking price for top targets around the league. One of the biggest names on the block is Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin. Reports have said the Flames will be looking for at least a first round pick in exchange for Hanifin and with a lot of teams looking to add depth before the postseason, the price could go up as teams begin to make offers.

It's likely that in order to stay in the hunt for the 6-foot-3 27 year old defenseman, the Bruins would need to give up their 2025 first round pick along with another top asset like 19 year old forward Matt Poitras, as well as another few minor pieces thrown in to sweeten the deal. With so many teams looking to buy at the deadline, there's no guarantee even that would be enough to land Hanifin in Boston.

It's worth noting that Hanifin's contract will expire after this season making him a free agent. Is it a smart move for the Bruins to trade for him now, or would they be better off holding onto their assets and trying to land a deal next offseason?
