The NHL's Department of Player Safety acted decisively, revealing on Saturday that Buffalo Sabres defenseman Connor Clifton is set to serve a two-game suspension.

This ruling stems from an incident less than 24 hours before, during Friday's game against the New Jersey Devils when Clifton was ejected for delivering an illegal hit to the head of Devils' captain Nico Hischier.

The incident occurred in the opening period of the game, as Clifton zeroed in on Hischier, who seemed unaware of the impending hit by the Sabres' defenseman.

As a consequence of the suspension, Clifton will be absent from the Sabres' upcoming match against the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday and their game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. His return to the Buffalo Sabres' lineup is anticipated on Friday, November 3rd, when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers once more.
