With 1-year remaining on Leon Leon Draisaitl's contract with the Edmonton Oilers, the speculation around his next contract is still at the center of NHL News rumors, what is holding the team back from signing their superstar?
Per the 'Oilersnation' podcast, Host, Tyler Yaremchuk states that there is a history between the two and it builds trust that both sides can come to an agreement fairly soon. There should be no worries from Edmonton fans that a deal will not be in place.
"I think that also, you know, probably shows there's a pretty high level of trust between the two sides. Like if there was concern from the Oilers' side, that Draisaitl was gonna, you know, back out or change his mind or something was gonna go wrong, then," he said.
"Yeah, maybe they would be under some pressure to, kay, on the heels of getting that close to a Stanley Cup. Just get it done as fast as you can. But I think these two sides probably know they're going to find common ground at some point," Yaremchuk continued.
"And it'll be, you know, not easy to do, but you can kind of see the path towards how they're going to get a deal done. So, yeah, I have no problem with them waiting. I mean, announce it on August 31st. Wait till September, when he's back in town for camp."
The most likely outcome is that a deal will come before the 2024-2025 season commences, which is great news for Fans who have been worried that the star center will move on to another team.
