Tensions rose between the New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers last night, resulting in intervention from the NHL's Player Safety Department.

As the game neared its end and players were changing lines following a whistle, Travis Konecny of the Flyers opted to give Brendan Smith of the Devils a slight push with his stick. However, Smith reacted strongly, retaliating with a forceful swing using both hands on his stick.

Currently, Player Safety has arranged a hearing for Smith today, and it's challenging to envision a situation where he doesn't face a suspension. While retaliation is understandable, wielding your stick in that manner isn't a wise choice.
